NAD+ Therapy
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), a molecule that resembles vitamin B3 (niacin), is a coenzyme that plays a big role in the ability of cells to make energy. NAD+ also plays a role in activation of proteins called sirtuins which help the body to respond to stress and aging, in part by helping the body to make more of its natural antioxidants. We know that the body's levels of NAD+ decline over time suggesting that loss of NAD+ activity plays a role in the aging process. Studies in fact have demonstrated that when you overproduce NAD in animal models you can actually increase their lifespan. Treatment with NAD+ therapy, whether through injections or by IV therapy can have many potential benefits, including its anti-aging effects, increasing energy levels, improving focus and mental clarity, boosting energy and optimizing skin health.

NAD+ can be given by intramuscular (IM) injection or by IV drip. A typical NAD+ IM injection regimen involves starting at twice weekly injections at 20mg each. This dose can be raised based on patient tolerance and desired effects. Reducing injection frequency to once weekly can be attempted to maintain NAD+ levels. Alternatively, faster infusion of a larger dose of NAD+ can be given. This allows for a much more significant positive effect.

Because of potential side effects such as nausea and flushing, NAD+ infusions are given slowly, typically taking between 2-4 hours. IV NAD+ protocols vary but a typical regimen is one infusion weekly for 4 weeks. This is followed by a maintenance infusion once the following month and then additional maintenance doses every 3 months.
